PACE, Fla. — The Pace Pharmacy owners charged in an alleged illegal drug scheme were re-arrested Monday on additional charges.
Stephen Burklow and Monique Burklow — who had been out on bond — were both booked into Santa Rosa County Jail at 1:25 p.m.
Stephen Burklow’s new charges are:
- drug possession – controlled substance without a prescription (felony)
- possession of new/legend drug without prescription (misdemeanor)
- fraud – use/possess ID of another person without consent (felony)
Monique Burklow’s new charges are:
- drug possession – controlled substance without a prescription (felony)
- possession of new/legend drug without prescription (misdemeanor)
The FDLE tells WEAR News the charges stem from items seized on the day of the search warrant, which took place on May 14 at the Burklow’s home on Wallace Lake Road.
Additionally, 22-year-old Laikyn Burklow was also arrested Monday afternoon on a misdemeanor charge of possession of new/legend drug without prescription. Jail records show she shares the same address as the Burklow couple.
Stephen Burklow was released from jail around 4:20 p.m. on $80,000 bond.
Monique Burklow was released from jail around 4:40 p.m. on $4,500 bond.
Laikyn Burklow was released from jail just after 4 p.m. on $500 bond.
WEAR News is working to learn more on the charges for all three.
Stephen and Monique Burklow were both first arrested on May 14 on charges related to conspiring to traffic prescription drugs. The FDLE said they are tied to Dr. Elaine Sharp’s pill mill scheme. She is awaiting trial on murder charges.
While the Burklows are the owners of Pace Pharmacy, Stephen worked as a pharmacist and Monique served as the office manager. Another pharmacist — 69-year-old David Winkles — was also initially charged in the case. He has not been re-arrested.
After their initial arrests, Monique Burklow was released from jail on May 16 on $600,000 bond, while Stephen Burklow was released from jail on May 30 on $1,310,000 bond.
