Jackson’s Bakery owner arrested on stolen property, drug charges

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The owner of a shut-down bakery in Greece has been arrested on charges related to stolen property and drug possession, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said 35-year-old Matthew Belk was arrested for three counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and several other traffic violations.

Belk’s listed address is 614 Stone Road — the same location as Jackson’s Bakery, which was recently shut down by the Monroe County Department of Health.

According to investigators, the charges stemmed from a complaint about a suspicious person at the Candlewood Apartments. Deputies say Belk was found in possession of a stolen Ram 1500 van, two stolen credit cards, and a “white rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.”

Jackson’s Bakery was officially closed on June 27 by the Monroe County Department of Health due to multiple violations. A notice posted outside the business shows it was ordered shut down on June 20, 2025. Additional signs from the Town of Greece instruct people to keep out.

Health inspection reports listed three public health hazards and 13 violations, including food and ingredient bins contaminated with mouse droppings, dead insects, debris, and animal hair.

The bakery briefly closed last month as well. At the time, the owner told News 8 that employees had walked out and the business could not continue operating after the holidays.

Belk was taken to the Ontario County Jail and will answer to the charges at a later date.
