Former Lucas Co. Jail nursing director indicted on drug tampering charges
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The former nursing director at the Lucas County Jail has been charged with drug tampering.
Court documents show that Anissa Floure was indicted for six counts of Tampering with Drugs on April 17, all third degree felonies.
According to the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Floure was hired in 2003 to serve as the director of Nursing for the Sheriff’s Office.
“In April 2024, the Sheriff’s administration was made aware of alleged improper procedures being used by medical staff while administering prescription drugs to inmates,” the statement reads. “The State of Ohio’s Pharmacy and Nursing Boards were immediately contacted and began an investigation. The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Bureau also initiated an administrative investigation.”
The statement said Floure was relieved of duty and placed on administrative leave, and that in September of 2024, the jail began using a private company, Vital Core, to provide care to inmates.
The Sheriff’s Office declined to comment further on the case.
When asked about Floure’s case, the Ohio Board of Nursing responded with the following statement:
