D’Angelo funeral details revealed following death at 51
Details for the upcoming funeral of D’Angelo have been announced following his death earlier this month.
The legendary R&B/neo-soul singer passed away on October 14th following a private battle with pancreatic cancer.
According to AllHipHop, his funeral will take place on November 1st in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
The service is set to be an intimate, family-centred gathering, including a private viewing and burial ceremony, which will be closed to the public.
The Roots, Stevie Wonder, and John Mayer are scheduled to perform at the service, which could expand to an even bigger musical lineup.
Former President Barack Obama is also set to contribute with a written message that will be read out to attendees.
D’Angelo (real name Michael Archer) died at the age of 51. Shortly after his death, his family paid tribute to both the man and the musician.

It continued, “We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”
