CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — An ex-convict accused of ripping a door handle off a woman’s truck is back behind bars in Cheatham County.
According to arrest reports, the incident took place in the parking lot of a busy condominium complex in Ashland City on Monday, Dec. 1.
Bodycam video obtained by News 2 shows the moments police arrived at the scene and ordered the suspect—identified as 34-year-old Jeremy Pedigo— to stop. However, he took off running instead with an officer hot on his trail.
As seen on video, Pedigo ran behind buildings before being tased by the officer, which was ultimately ineffective because of the thick coat he was wearing.
Then, video shows Pedigo enter a drainage ditch, where the officer aggressively wrestled him to the ground.
Meanwhile, officers in another part of the complex were dealing with 35-year-old Lauren Green, an alleged victim.
Green was reportedly sitting in her Ford pickup truck with the windows rolled up when law enforcement asked her to open her door.
According to witnesses, Pedigo was seen banging on Green’s truck window before he broke the door handle.
An arrest report states that Pedigo was under the influence of a narcotic and was stealing items from other vehicles in the parking lot.
At some point, Pedigo attempted to steal a fishing pole from Green’s truck, but she refused to let him. Records report that’s when he became violent and allegedly told Green that “he was going to get her when she gets out or at a later time.”
Meanwhile, bodycam video shows that Green was very reluctant to work with authorities, who kept telling her that they were there to help her.
“Why are you not getting out of the car?” asked the officers.
“Because I don’t trust y’all,” Green replied.
Once Green was out of the vehicle, officers reportedly received consent to search it and found two bags of meth, Xanax pills, a glass pipe with residue and scales.
According to the Ashland City Police Department, a man said he heard Pedigo threaten Green and intervened, which agitated the suspect. The man added he retrieved his firearm, which led Pedigo to dare him to shoot him while he continued to break the door’s handle and attempted to smash the glass.
Both Pedigo and Green were arrested on multiple drug charges. In addition, Pedigo was also booked for evading and resisting arrest.
Officials said Pedigo was convicted of theft of property in 2015 and aggravated burglary in 2019. He was reportedly sentenced to probation in both cases and expired his sentence in 2022.
