First medical marijuana dispensary in Kentucky to open this weekend

FRANKFORT, Ky. —Kentucky is opening its first dispensary nearly a year after medical marijuana became legal in the state.
Medical marijuana was legalized in Kentucky at the beginning of 2025, but there has yet to be any sold in Kentucky.
But that is changing this weekend.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Thursday the first dispensary will open in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on Saturday. Beaver Dam is about 2 hours southwest of Louisville.
Beshear said the location is called The Post Dispensary and is located at 300 North Main Street, with Saturday serving as the soft opening.
“This news makes Saturday the first day that safe, regulated medical cannabis is available to patients, and it makes The Post our first fully approved and licensed medical dispensary in the state,” Beshear said. “Our priority is ensuring Kentuckians suffering with serious medical conditions like cancer, PTSD, EMS and others can now have access to safe medical cannabis. We’ll keep sharing news as it becomes available, but we made a promise one we’re keeping.”
The dispensary will have medical marijuana grown by the state’s first licensed cultivator, Farmtucky.
The product will be limited on Saturday’s launch. The Post Dispensary will open at 10 a.m. CT and be open until 6 p.m. or until supplies run out.
Beshear said he expects supplies to run out since they will be limited.
There will eventually be 48 dispensaries spread across the state.
