BARRACKVILLE, W.Va. (WKRC) — A woman was accused of giving meth and fentanyl to minors.
According to WTRF, 82-year-old Mary Kennedy of Barrackville, West Virginia, was taken into custody after she allegedly gave controlled substances to juveniles.
Citing a criminal complaint, the outlet reported that deputies responded to a home on December 5 after receiving information regarding minors “using control substances.” Authorities were informed that Kennedy was the caretaker of the juveniles and that she “was allowing other juveniles to stay,” per the report.
WDTV reported that five teens were present at the home, with two of those juveniles being in the custody of Kennedy, while the other three were visitors. Assisted by Child Protective Services (CPS) in the truancy-related investigation, authorities reportedly found methamphetamine and fentanyl beneath Kennedy’s bed, WDTV reported. Deputies said they believed Kennedy had purchased the meth for her own use, but said “the juveniles (have been) taking it from her container,” per WTRF’s report.
Authorities also found a pill bottle that was labeled with Kennedy’s name, which reportedly contained meth and tested positive for fentanyl, according to WTRF.
According to the reports, Kennedy confirmed that the drugs were hers when speaking with law enforcement. During the interview, she reportedly said that “she had purchased the methamphetamine and would consume some and sell the rest to [a juvenile at the home].” Authorities also allegedly discovered a Twisted Tea box that contained marijuana, WTRF reported.
