One afternoon, a couple discovered a stray dog on the side of the road acting in a very peculiar way. The poor creature was constantly spinning in circles, and a large, frightening tumor hung from her belly.

My husband froze when he saw this stray dog spinning in circles...

A Decision Driven by Compassion

At first, the couple was shocked and felt helpless. The husband hesitated, silent as he watched the dog’s struggle. However, moved by her misery and reminded of a dog he had owned as a child, he decided he could not leave her behind. He used a camping blanket to carefully pick her up and rushed her to the hospital, naming her Kang Kang in hopes of a speedy recovery.

A Heartbreaking Diagnosis

The veterinarian revealed that Kang Kang was a senior dog, at least ten years old. Her condition was critical:

  • Severe Illness: She suffered from a long-standing breast tumor.

  • Neurological Damage: She had encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) and cerebral edema, which had caused nerve damage.

  • Blindness: The brain swelling had caused her to lose her sight, leaving her trapped in a world of darkness.

The constant spinning was a result of this neurological damage. When asked if it was “worth it” to save a dog so old and sick, the husband simply replied: “If it makes her continue to live, it is worth it”.

The Long Road to Recovery

Kang Kang underwent successful surgery to remove the tumor. During her stay at the hospital, the staff realized she was deeply depressed, likely missing the original owner who had cruelly abandoned her after ten years of loyalty.

Slowly, through the dedicated care of the doctors and the couple’s frequent visits, she began to trust again. The husband told her, “Your owner doesn’t want you anymore, but we want you”. In a miraculous turn of events, her vision even began to improve slightly, allowing her to see the world through a blurry haze rather than total darkness.

A Peaceful Place to Call Home

After a week, Kang Kang was finally discharged. Although her neurological damage is irreversible—meaning she still spins in circles when she walks—she is no longer a terrified stray.

Today, Kang Kang spends her days in the couple’s courtyard. She has a safe place to wander, regular meals, and a warm bed. She is no longer wandering the streets in pain and confusion. In this new home, surrounded by love, Kang Kang has found her final sanctuary for the rest of her life.
