A Greene County man faces multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Albany County.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., deputies from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a speeding vehicle in the Town of Coeymans. The driver, identified as 50-year-old William J. Herchenroder Jr., was found to have a suspended New York State license.

 

Further investigation revealed that Herchenroder Jr. was in possession of approximately 28 grams of crystal methamphetamine and five amphetamine pills. He was subsequently arrested and charged with several offenses, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a Class C felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor, along with traffic violations.

Herchenroder Jr. was arraigned at the Town of New Scotland Criminal Court and released under the supervision of probation, according to Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr.
