Julia Roberts exclusively detailed throwing a party for her After the Hunt costars Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield on Live From E!: Golden Globes 2026 on Jan. 11.
Julia Roberts went method for her After the Hunt role.
Indeed, the Golden Globes 2026 nominee detailed how she channeled her character by throwing a dinner party of her own for castmates Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield and director Luca Guadagnino.
“We had a beautiful time,” Julia told E! News’ Zuri Hall outside of the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif Jan. 11. “We kind of weren’t sure—my husband and I—what we were getting into when we said, ‘Why don’t we have everyone come?’ And before I could even bring up the idea, Luca said, ‘What if we come to your house?’ And I was like, ‘I was just about to say that.’”
And while Julia—who is up for Best Performance by a Female Actress at the 83rd annual ceremony, set to air on CBS and stream on Paramount+—and husband Daniel Moder were apprehensive, she admitted, “It was kind of life-affirming.”
“We never stopped cooking, cleaning,” she detailed. “Every setting. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it. It was beautiful.”
Another beautiful moment? Julia’s attendance at the Golden Globes in the first place. After all, it was the first time in seven years the After the Hunt star graced the red carpet. (Click here to see all the celebrity arrivals.)
And Julia’s return to the Golden Globes was a much awaited one. In fact, host Nikki Glaser even tested out some of her jokes about the actress at comedy clubs around L.A. ahead of the show, leading her to learn a very valuable lesson.
“You cannot make fun of America’s Sweetheart,” she said during a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, noting that the audience was booing at her quips about Julia during the trial run. “So, whatever I end up saying about her, that is the most fine-tuned joke that I’ve worked on so hard, because it is very delicate.

“I am a huge fan of these people,” explained the comedian, who is hosting the award show for the second consecutive time. “It’s easy for me to take down the newer batch of actresses and actors who are younger than me. It’s like, ‘OK, I can make fun of you. I’m like a veteran.’ But when it’s people that I grew up admiring, it’s a different approach this year.”
She added that the key is to be “very delicate about making jokes that aren’t going to ruin anyone’s night.”
“But you also want to give the people at home something to laugh at, and you want to poke fun at the people that they’re dying for you to make fun of,” Nikki said. “People at home want you to make fun of the A-listers.”
