Footprints Center for Autism is inviting everyone to its eighth annual fundraising event.

A Blue Carpet Affair will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. April 18 at Pine Ridge Country Club in Wickliffe.

The gala consists of a dinner, music and dancing, a large basket raffle, and an inclusive fashion show featuring children of all abilities.

Tickets for A Blue Carpet Affair can be purchased by visiting the Perry Village-based organization’s website or by contacting Footprints Executive Director Erin Bolyard at 440-259-3726 or ebolyard@footprints-ohio.com.

“This event has sold out in the past, and this year, tickets are selling just as quickly,” Bolyard stated in a news release, noting that capacity for the celebration is limited to 220.

Bolyard added that the inclusive fashion show will celebrate inspiration — highlighting what inspires each child or how they inspire others just by being themselves. Families interested in having a child participate in the fashion show are encouraged to check out the organization’s website for more details.

In addition, Footprints’ website provides information on becoming a sponsor or donating gift baskets for this year’s gala.

All proceeds from A Blue Carpet Affair will go toward supporting Footprints Center for Autism’s mission “to provide comprehensive, collaborative and child-centered programming for individuals with autism in a positive and nonrestrictive learning environment, so that each child can reach their highest potential and achieve excellence in all aspects of life,” the release stated.

The event  is called A Blue Carpet Affair because it has traditionally been scheduled around the same time as World Autism Month in April. People wear blue or illuminate blue light bulbs on their porches in April to increase awareness about autism.
