This is the story of Hyurem, an incredibly loyal dog who was left behind when her owners moved away. For nearly four months, Hyurem refused to leave the empty house, holding onto the faint hope that her family would one day return for her.
Fear and Harsh Days of Survival
Despite her gentle and devoted nature, months of solitude took a heavy toll. Hyurem became severely emaciated and suffered from a skin disease (mange) that made her appear so frail that passersby often thought she was already dead. She survived only through the kindness of a neighbor who occasionally brought food, yet she remained terrified and constantly avoided rescuers, afraid to leave the only place she ever called home.
A Persistent Rescue
After many efforts, rescuers finally managed to gain Hyurem’s trust. When they found her, she was lying motionless as if she had given up. The rescuer gently comforted her, saying, “Don’t be afraid, no one is going to hurt you”. They brought her in to begin the process of physical and emotional recovery.
Hyurem’s first bath was a challenge because she was so frightened, even fearing that her life was in danger. However, once the dirt and parasites were washed away, she began to feel a sense of comfort and safety for the first time.
A Miraculous Transformation
Thanks to a nutritious diet of fresh food and dedicated care, Hyurem recovered rapidly. She began to gain weight, her skin healed, and her beautiful coat started to grow back. No longer the shy, terrified dog she once was, Hyurem became lively and affectionate, wagging her tail for treats and developing a particular fondness for buttered toast with her new owner.
In her new home, Hyurem is never lonely again, having made new canine friends and receiving unconditional love. She has truly transformed into a beautiful, loving dog, finally closing the painful chapter of her abandonment.
