With production underway, Wednesday season 3 has tapped three new cast members, including stars from Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso.

Following the success of season 2, Wednesday is now officially returning for its third season. While a release window for season 3 is yet to be revealed, Netflix has now unveiled the addition of several new faces, including Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, St. Elmo’s Fire star Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance, who previously scored an Emmy nod for Ted Lasso (via Netflix).
Their roles in the new season, which has begun production in Dublin, are yet to be disclosed. Moreover, they aren’t the only new additions to the next installment of one of Netflix’s most acclaimed originals, as Tim Burton’s longtime collaborator Winona Ryder has also joined the production.

Wednesday Season 3 Cast So Far
The trio of Headey, McCarthy, and Lance joins previously announced additions, Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer. Eva Green, another frequent collaborator of Burton, will star as Aunt Ophelia, one of the most enigmatic and mysterious figures in the Wednesday lore.
Ryder’s role, like Headey’s and Lance’s, remains under wraps for now. The rest of the core cast from the previous season, including the Addams family and other key figures such as Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, and Victor Dorobantu, are expected to return. And speaking of Green’s turn as Aunt Ophelia, co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said (via Tudum by Netflix):
Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen — elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia. We’re excited to see how she transforms the role and expands Wednesday’s world.
Eva Green herself has expressed excitement about joining the Addams Family, and hopefully, Season 3 will continue the magic of its predecessors.
What to Expect from Wednesday Season 3?

While most story bits remain under wraps, the new season is expected to delve deeper into its characters and uncover more of the Addams family’s secrets, especially with Aunt Ophelia’s debut on the horizon.
Season 3 is also expected to continue the darker tone of season 2, and will explore more dark mysteries while further expanding on the Nevermore Academy lore. Tim Burton stressed that he’s enthralled to return to this world and rejoin forces with the core cast, and co-creator Millar added:
We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday. We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!
As for its release, no official date has been announced yet. However, with production already underway, a Halloween 2027 release feels like a fitting and plausible window for this show.
