Chocolate bars sold nationwide recalled for possible contamination
(WHTM) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of a specialty chocolate bar on Monday over concerns that the product may be contaminated with salmonella.
According to the agency, the company Spring Mulberry is voluntarily recalling one lot of its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar due to the possible contamination.
The issue was flagged after routine testing by a third-party laboratory. No illnesses have been reported related to the recall.
The affected chocolate bars were available for purchase online and at stores nationwide since September 15, 2025. They were sold in teal outer packaging and marked with the lot code #025255. The lot code can be found on the clear plastic inner wrapping.
Customers who have the affected products are urged to throw them away.
Salmonella is a common source of food-borne illness. For most people, the consequences aren’t serious. Symptoms can include fever and digestive issues like diarrhea or vomiting.
However, salmonella infections can be fatal for young children, the elderly and others with weaker immune systems.
“In rare cases, infection can result in the organism entering the bloodstream and causing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis,” the FDA explained.
To request a refund you can contact Spring & Mulberry by emailing recalls@springandmulberry.com, along with a photo of the lot code on your chocolate bar.
