Christina Aguilera is giving a rare glimpse into her life as a mom of two.

On Thursday, March 26, the “Hurt” singer, 45, shared a recap of her recent family visit to Costa Rica’s La Paz Waterfall Gardens & Wildlife Refuge. In the clip, which was set to QUITAPENAS’ track “Jaguar,” Aguilera showed various clips of herself, fiancé Matthew Rutler and their daughter Summer, 11, enjoying nature and spending quality time together.

“📍La Paz Waterfall Gardens & Wildlife Refuge … thank you for the wonderful tour and the breath of fresh air ☁️🩵🦋 pura vida xxx” she wrote in the caption.

In addition to her daughter Summer, the “Genie in a Bottle” singer is also a mom to son Max, whom she welcomed with ex-husband Jordan Bratman. After welcoming Summer in August 2014, Aguilera opened up to PEOPLE about the challenges of being a working mother and called her children “the center of my universe.”

“It’s definitely not easy juggling work and motherhood, as being a parent is a full-time job within itself,” she said. “You just have to make it work for you. My life has so many different moving parts, but my kids are the center focal piece, and everything else shifts around them.”

Despite the difficulty of trying to find the right work-and-home-life balance, Aguilera always comes back to prioritizing her children’s comfort above all else. “It’s definitely not easy. I will openly say that,” she told PEOPLE in May 2019. “The key is truly making sure that they always feel safe and always feel connected.”

Back in December 2025, during a preview clip for her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the “Beautiful” singer opened up about her two kids. When host Jennifer Hudson asked Aguilera how she earns “cool mom points” with her son, she admitted it was “tough.”

“It’s tough with kids in general,” she said, “They will call you out for anything and everything. And I’m like, ‘I’ve lived through some things, too!’ ”

“For sure they keep you humbled, but you do learn through their eyes also and [motherhood] teaches you patience, too,” she continued.

Aguilera then went on to share that she and Max are “looking at colleges,” adding, “time flies, it really does.”

One way she can impress Max, Aguilera revealed, is through music, sharing that the teen loved going backstage to meet LCD Soundsystem at the recent Portola Festival, which she also played at. “It was such a vibe, and I got cool mom points for that.”

As for her daughter Summer, the singer told Hudson that she’s also following in her mommy’s creative footsteps.

“She’s such an artist, she paints, she draws, she makes beautiful masks, and she’s just so creative, but she’s definitely her own thing,” Aguilera said. “And I never want to push anything on my kids, whatever they’re passionate about, I’m there to support it, but she has taken an interest in acting, so she’s had a few lessons.”

Aguilera went on to share that Summer prefers her in mom mode rather than performance mode and sweetly asks her to take off her stage make-up as soon as she’s done with work.

“So I’m done shooting, Summer’s like, ‘Can you take that off now? I just want to be cozy.’ She just loves my freckles; she loves to see them and asks if she’s going to have freckles one day. She’s the number one mama fan!”
