A man was arrested after he allegedly staged a drug deal in order to confront a man who he believed sold vapes to his daughter.

According to WESH, 40-year-old Alan Olson of Volusia County, Florida, was taken into custody after he reportedly confronted a man who had allegedly sold a THC cartridge to his 15-year-old daughter.

Authorities said Olson had taken the law into his own hands after he learned about the alleged deal by looking through his daughter’s phone, the outlet reported. Olson then reportedly ordered a marijuana vape pen from the alleged dealer and arranged to meet him at a Circle K location, allegedly bringing a handgun along, per the outlet’s report.

The dealer, identified only as “Cameron,” arrived with his pregnant girlfriend, and Olson reportedly confronted him about the sale to his daughter, which scared both Cameron and his girlfriend, WESH reported. Cameron and his girlfriend fled the area in their car, allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, then fled on foot, per the report.

A barber who was at the scene around the time the crash occurred spoke with reporters from WESH.

When the cops came in, they came in from everywhere. I work at Mr. Barber’s Cuts and Styles, and we could see it from the window. Somebody done messed up,” the barber told the station.

The Tampa Free Press reported that Cameron spoke with law enforcement and said he was “in fear for his life.” Authorities said Olson “taunted” Cameron and his girlfriend after the crash, but reportedly had a “panic attack” after he returned home to find that the alleged dealer had texted his daughter that “her father was going to jail for a long time.”

Olson and his wife returned to the Circle K to speak with police and was arrested, per the reports.

He is charged with the following, according to WESH:

  • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

The Free Press reported that Olson was released after posting bail and is scheduled to appear on December 18.

“The ideal thing would be to call us. Then you would not be going to jail for brandishing a firearm and threatening to shoot somebody. I get it. I understand the anger was there, but that is not how you do business; that’s how you get yourself in more trouble,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said, according to WESH.
