Donald Trump Causes Chaos In First Weeks As President: Live Updates
President Donald Trump appears determined to follow through on his plans to overhaul the federal government and carry out disruptive action.
Last week was full of chaos as Elon Musk, Trump’s billionaire ally, used his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to try and shut down key organizations like the U.S. Agency for International Development, and accessed millions of Americans’ sensitive personal data.
Trump, who has spent the first few weeks of this presidential term signing a slew of executive orders in an effort to make dramatic changes to the government, spent his Sunday night making history as the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl.

Trump Reverses Plan To Ban Menthol Cigarettes, Flavored Cigars
The Trump administration has jettisoned a proposal by the Food and Drug Administration to ban menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars in a blow to health advocates — and boost to big tobacco.
The FDA proposed the ban in April 2022, nearly a decade-and-a-half after banning flavored cigarettes in 2009, but the Biden White House delayed its approval after receiving it in 2023.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids condemned the decision in a statement, calling Trump’s decision “deeply disappointing.”
“We strongly support eliminating menthol cigarettes to end the tobacco industry’s decades-long, predatory marketing of these deadly products to kids, Black Americans and other communities,” the group said.
“We will continue to build support for eliminating menthol cigarettes nationwide. In the meantime, it is more critical than ever that states and cities step up their efforts to end the sale of menthol cigarettes and other flavored tobacco products.”
