After searching the parking lot, deputies said the car was found parked and unoccupied, with drugs and drug paraphernalia seen in “plain view” from inside the car.

Using surveillance video, deputies said they were able to identify King as the driver of the car. He was located shortly after in a store inside the mall and was arrested.

Deputies seized 100 grams (nearly 0.25 pounds) of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash after searching the car.

King was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute cocaine, maintain place controlled substance, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of schedule VI-controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During Monday’s court appearance, King was appointed a public defender and given a $100,000 bond.

He is expected to be back in court at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26.
