Emery’s Critical Moment: A Family’s Hope and Unwavering Faith.1637

I want to take a moment to provide an update on Emery’s condition, as many of you have been reaching out with concern and prayers. It’s with a heavy heart that I share some difficult news — Emery coded last night, and after a swift and urgent response from his medical team, he was placed on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). This is one of the most critical moments of our journey, and we are all struggling to hold on to hope and faith in the midst of this uncertainty.

Yesterday, Emery had a very strange and unsettling day. His oxygen levels fluctuated throughout the day, sometimes dropping and then rising again, and his blood pressure followed suit, creating an ongoing sense of anxiety and concern. But by 11:10 pm, things took a sharp turn for the worse. His heart rate and blood pressure dropped to dangerously low levels, and despite efforts to stabilize him, they continued to fluctuate. It was in that moment that his medical team responded immediately, calling a code and performing chest compressions as they rushed to connect him to the ECMO machine.

The ECMO team was quick, and thanks to their rapid response, Emery is still with us. The decision to place him on ECMO was crucial, as this machine is now doing the work that his heart cannot. The goal is to give his heart a chance to heal and allow his body to rest without the strain of doing the work itself. While this machine is a lifeline, it’s also a waiting game. There are no guarantees. This moment — while relieving in some ways — still carries the weight of uncertainty.

We’re told that this will be a time of monitoring and observation, and it’s likely there won’t be many updates for a few days while the medical team assesses his condition. This means we have to trust in the hands of the doctors and the care he’s receiving, and hold on to the hope that with each passing moment, Emery’s body will begin to heal.

What’s truly heartbreaking as a parent is watching your child in this kind of pain and fear, and not being able to do anything about it. We cannot hold him. We cannot pick him up and comfort him in the way we always have. Instead, we stand by his side, praying, talking softly to him, and hoping that the medical team’s efforts will bring him through this. The breathing tube, the monitors, the ECMO machine — all of it is hard to see, and harder still to accept as the reality of the situation.

The good news is that despite the critical nature of last night’s events, we have seen signs of hope. Emery is still here, and we are so grateful for every small victory. We are waiting to see how he responds in the next few days — will his body accept the support of ECMO? Will his heart and organs start to recover?

We also find comfort in knowing that we’re not alone in this journey. The outpouring of love, support, and prayers from all of you — our friends, family, and community — has been overwhelming. We can feel the strength of your prayers lifting us up. It is these moments of support that remind us that Emery’s fight is not his alone. The power of community is something we’ve come to rely on every day.

But even with all the uncertainty, we remain hopeful. Hope is what we cling to when everything else feels uncertain. We’ve seen Emery’s incredible strength before, and we believe in his ability to keep fighting. He’s been through so much, and yet he continues to show us his bravery, his resilience, and his will to survive. This fight is not over. And we are not giving up on him.

As hard as it is, we are holding on to our faith. We believe in miracles, in the power of love, and in the strength of Emery’s spirit. We are trusting the doctors, the nurses, and everyone around us who is working tirelessly to help him. Their dedication and expertise are what gives us hope in the most difficult moments.

Please continue to pray for Emery. Pray for his heart to heal, for his body to respond to the ECMO, for peace in our hearts as we wait for updates, and for strength for all of us who are standing by his side. We are taking this one day at a time, trying to stay strong, and believing that each new day brings us closer to seeing our little boy return to the vibrant, joyful child he has always been.

Thank you for your continued prayers, your love, and your support. We cannot express how much it means to us. Every message, every prayer, every word of encouragement helps more than you know. We will keep fighting with Emery, and we know that we are all in this together.

With love and gratitude,
