Escambia County Public Schools terminates high school coach after drug trafficking arrest

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A high school coach in Escambia County is charged with trafficking drugs.
Deputies arrested 44-year-old Kendrick Johnson on Wednesday.
Johnson is charged with trafficking a synthetic narcotic, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony and a racketeering violation.
Escambia County Public Schools sent WEAR News the following statement:
Escambia County Public Schools has been made aware of the arrest of an individual who was a coach at one of our schools. We find these allegations, if proven true, to be reprehensible. This employee was terminated immediately after we were made aware of these charges. As always, we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement as the investigation unfolds. Our commitment to the safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority.
The sheriff’s office has not released details about the case.
