ifteen years after its release, Liquor Store Blues, a reggae track with dub influences, recorded by American singer Bruno Mars and featuring Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, has earned a gold certification in Canada.
The certification, which commemorates 40,000 units in streaming and sales equivalent, was issued on November 12 by Music Canada.
Liquor Store Blues was produced by Jamaican, Dwayne ‘Supa Dups’ Chin-Quee. It is featured on Bruno Mars’ 2010 album Doo Wops & Hooligans, which peaked at #3 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart.
Doo Wops & Hooligans features the hit songs Marry You, Grenade and Just the Way You Are. Another track featured on the album is Our First Time, which Supa Dups also produced
Liquor Store Blues peaked at #97 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart, #74 in Romania, #68 on US Digital Song Sales chart and #20 on Latin Pop Airplay.
It was certified gold in New Zealand a few years ago. Last month, it was certified platinum in the United States.
