A touching story of betrayal and compassion has recently come to light, starting with security camera footage of a scene no one wants to witness: a dog being abandoned by its own owner in the middle of a busy street.

A Cruel Parting on a Busy Road

The incident began when a car pulled over to the side of the road. The owner opened the door, dumped the dog out, and quickly drove away. Left confused and disoriented, the small dog was nearly hit by multiple passing vehicles as it stood in the middle of the crowded traffic.

Based on observations from the rescuer, the owner may have become frustrated after the dog vomited in the backseat. Footage shows the individual cleaning up the mess before heartlessly deciding they “didn’t really want him anymore.”

A Fateful Encounter

Fortunately, a kind-hearted woman spotted the dog. Initially, she assumed he had simply gotten loose because he was still wearing his collar and leash. Her first instinct was to pull over and get him off the road to safety.

Although the dog was nervous and cowered at first, he began to wag his tail hesitantly as soon as he realized she was trying to help. It was as if he were asking, “Are you sure? Are you sure you’re here for me?” After scanning him for a microchip and finding nothing, she contacted a nearby restaurant to view their footage, only to discover the shocking truth: he hadn’t been lost; he had been dumped.

From Abandoned Stray to Family Member

Despite reporting the incident to the police, no progress was made as it was suspected the car and plates might have been stolen. Faced with this reality, the woman decided to bring the dog home. It was there that a “miracle” coincidence occurred: the abandoned dog had the exact same coat color and appearance as her current dog, Lucky.

The two dogs hit it off immediately, romping and chasing each other around the yard. When her fiancé walked out and saw them, he remarked, “You didn’t tell me he looks just like Lucky.” That was the moment they both knew they were about to become a three-dog household.

A Happy Ending

Within a week, the dog was neutered, microchipped, and officially licensed. Though he was quite skinny and had likely lived outside before, he has proven to be an extremely healthy and sweet “little dude” who wants to spend every second by his new owners’ side.

Reflecting on the journey, the rescuer shared: “They missed out on such a good dog, so that’s their loss. We just got really lucky.”
