“After the Hunt,” starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri, is done with its theatrical run. When will it be available to watch at home?
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, After the Hunt held its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in August. The film opened in limited release in theaters on Oct. 10 before expanding to a wide release on Oct. 17.
The logline for the After the Hunt notes that the film is “a gripping psychological drama about a college professor (Julia Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light.”
Rated R, After the Hunt was produced and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios. Generally, the studio releases its films on Amazon’s Prime Video platform before they arrive on digital streaming on premium video on demand. That was Amazon MGM Studios’ strategy in 2024 with the theatrical to Prime Video release of the Christmas-themed action comedy Red One — as well as The Accountant 2 in June — and it appears to be the case again with After the Hunt.
According to a new report from streaming tracker When to Stream, After the Hunt is expected to make its streaming debut on Thursday, Nov. 20. While it is typically accurate with its streaming reports, When to Stream noted that Amazon MGM Studios has not announced or confirmed the release date of After the Hunt on Prime Video and it is subject to change.
For viewers who don’t have Prime Video, the streaming platform is one of the components of being an Amazon Prime subscriber for $14.99 or $139 per year. Prime Video-only subscriptions are also available for $8.99 per month. Since both Prime Video streaming tiers are ad-based, the platform offers an ad-free option for an extra $2.99 per month.
