Rose, my 19-year-old daughter, has been dating her partner for a year. I was apprehensive at first, but he was a kind man, and I finally got along with him.
Rose is currently pregnant after they just became engaged. Their marriage and the birth of their child thrilled me.
I gave them permission to live with me, and we even decorated the nursery jointly in one of the rooms. However, after that
I’m still trembling at what I witnessed. My early arrival was accompanied by bundles of baby diapers that I had purchased at a significant savings.
When I spotted my kid holding a parcel as I entered the kitchen, the items immediately fell out of my hands.
No matter how bad things become, parents are the ones who are there to comfort their kids that everything will work out. Every parent wants the best for their children.
Rose’s mother, Ella, was dubious of her 19-year-old daughter’s motives when she revealed that she was seeing someone, but she ultimately grew to love and accept Nathan since he treated Rose with respect.
Ella’s main concern was that her daughter would attend college. Rose promised her that this would not occur. She was worried that getting married at that age would prevent her from fulfilling her ambition of going to college and getting a degree.
One day, Rose approached her mother and said she needed to talk to her about something. Ella’s heart fell; she didn’t know what to expect but was interested to hear Rose’s opinions.
The words “Please don’t get upset” made this mother feel even more stressed and anxious about the news she was soon to hear.
“I am the mother of Nathan’s child.” “You’re going to become a grandmother,” Rose said in a timid tone.
Rose was going to become a mother at such a young age—she was almost a baby herself. Ella felt disappointment as she considered the drastic changes her daughter’s life would undergo.
Rose attempted to reassure her mother, saying, “I know you wanted me to secure my future first, but this baby and Nathan are a big part of it.”
Rose informed her mother that she had more news to offer, but she assured her that everything would be well and that she wouldn’t leave college once the baby was born.
Rose held up her palm to her mother and said, “Um, I have another surprise for you.” “When he proposed to Mommy, I said yes!”
Rose was happy to hear that Nathan was sincere about his attentions, and although she had previously worried about her daughter’s future, she now invited Rose and Nathan to reside at her house until they were able to purchase a property of their own.
The youthful couple was ecstatic. They even made a nursery out of one of the rooms. Things were going well in life, but then all of a sudden they changed.
One day Ella came home sooner than she thought, eager to show Rose what she had bought for the baby they were all waiting for to arrive. When she got home, Rose was still in her pretty underwear.
Ella’s heart was tumbling in time with Rose’s shocked expression, indicating that it perceived danger before Rose did. “Mum! How come you are going home so early? Rose’s voice wavered as she stuttered.
“Baby, who are you talking to?” a deep, strange voice cried out from the corridor before Ella could respond. Ella had a sharp sensation in her abdomen upon realizing that the voice was not Nathan’s.
She dropped the grocery bags at that very time, breaking some of the items inside and causing a huge mess in the corridor.
Ella pointed at the mess at her feet and said, “I thought I’d surprise you with these, but it seems I’m the one surprised.” Rose begged, “Mom, please, let me explain!” as she went closer the voice, her heart beginning to race.
Ella spotted a man she had never seen before as she opened the bedroom door. The blanket that Nathan’s mother had purchased for Rose was wrapped around him.
Rose, what’s going on here? Ella was adamant about answers. The man got up in an attempt to be dignified, which just made Ella more enraged.
“Oh my goodness, ma’am. I had no idea—” he began.
“Away!” Ella abruptly interrupted. With that, he grabbed his clothing and hurriedly left the home.
It was an error, Mom. I was simply being insignificant. Please keep Nathan in the dark. Would you please? Rose begged.
“You claim ‘that was nothing,’ but how? You betray all that our family has worked so hard to create for you! Struggling to contain her emotions, Ella shouted.
“You’ve lied to everyone, not just Nathan. We have prepared this home and this room for your future and the future of your child.
For Rose’s mother, seeing her daughter in the arms of another man was too much. She was also sorry for Nathan, who had a deep love for Rose. Rose, you made your decision. You have to go now. I need some space to reflect and refuel before determining whether or not I can ever view you in the same light.
Rose fell to the ground.
“Mom, I have no money and nowhere to go! Please, I’m afraid. Rose repeated herself.
Ella felt a piece of herself crumble as she stood there and watched through tear-streaked eyes as her daughter gathered her little possessions. Still, the hurt was too intense and the treachery too profound.
Ella questioned if it was appropriate for her to inform Nathan about Rose’s adultery. She couldn’t help but wonder whether Rose really did carry Nathan’s child.
Ella questioned other Redditors on the platform if she thought that Rose’s expulsion was a harsh enough punishment. “Should I tell Nathan this awful truth? Was that the right thing for me to do to preserve the integrity of our family? Or am I a mother betrayed, behaving more out of hurt than wisdom?
