Julia Roberts has a penchant for switching her hairstyle; she always has. From dark brown frizz to below-the-shoulders blond, the 57-year-old actor has flip-flopped between straight, wavy and curly textures too many times to count over the last 30-plus years, testing every shade on the color wheel while doing so.

In the 1990s, Roberts’ red carpet style almost always guaranteed a mop of messy ringlets, parted on the side and pushed over the shoulders of an oversized blazer. Moving into the late ’90s and early 2000s, she started playing with color, adding subtle highlights to the front of her face for events such as the 24th Annual People’s Choice Awards before going full blond for the 2002 premiere of “Full Frontal,” where she also led the side bangs trend with straightened ends.

Now, Roberts has settled on a copper-tinged color and wide-barrel curls, though this phase might not last much longer. She did go from being a brunette with front fringe to a blond with a bob in just a few months last year. The variety is thanks to stylist Serge Normant, whose client list also includes Meghan Markle and Sarah Jessica Parker. Normant worked with Roberts as recently as March, when she received “Le Cesar D’Honneur,” the César Award.
