What can’t she do? Julia Roberts took on the role of Luca Guadagnino’s translator at the 2025 Gotham Awards for their Visionary Tribute for After The Hunt. “Tonight I will be acting as his interpreter,” Roberts stated as they stepped to the podium. “Good evening and thank you, Gotham Awards,” Guadagnino began in English. The Oscar winner then translated the director’s salutations into Italian, delighting Guadagnino, who snickered at the punchline and needed to take a giggle break before they continued with their speech. “I can’t keep going with you, I can’t,” Roberts laughed as they couldn’t keep the bit going for any longer, probably because their stomachs would hurt from the joy. Thankfully, laughter is a universal language, tee hee.

However, it was a good thing they stopped all the jokes. Roberts then revealed that she severely misjudged how much water she was drinking for the night. “I didn’t realize how long this was gonna go on, and I didn’t regulate my water intake,” she shared, before thanking their presenter, Paul Rudd. “Paul, thank you for those kind words. Everyone that is here living their creative dreams, thank you for doing that in a world that seems to be crumbling. This is the tape and the glue that keeps it together. One of my great dreams was to work with Luca Guadagnino, and now that I’ve done it once I just wanna keep on doing it.”
