You can add movie star Julia Roberts to the list of San Francisco 49ers fans who kept an eye on the upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday even while at work — even though Roberts’ workplace was the Golden Globes.

Roberts was the talk of the annual awards show on Sunday night, both on the red carpet and during the ceremony itself. Roberts had an emotional moment on the red carpet with “One Battle After Another” star Teyana Taylor, who cried at their meeting and called Roberts “one of my superheroes” afterwards. Taylor then stood to applaud Roberts as she went to present an award on stage, starting a rousing standing ovation — that Roberts herself egged on. It became a standout moment of the night and one George Clooney, her co-star from the old (and maybe new again?) “Oceans” movie franchise, referenced with a tinge of jealousy when he presented later in the evening.

But Roberts had other things on her mind while she was at the Los Angeles event: her hometown 49ers. Roberts and her family — her husband, filmmaker Daniel Moder, and their three children — moved to San Francisco in 2020 in the Presidio Heights neighborhood, then relocated to a home in Pacific Heights when they sold that house in 2023.

The red carpet for the Golden Globes on Sunday directly overlapped with the fourth quarter of the 49ers-Eagles game. But as Roberts stopped by for an interview with “Access Hollywood” hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover, a television behind their platform had the game on. “Access Hollywood” had Snoop Dogg crash Roberts’ interview, which temporarily flustered the movie star. But as she went to say hello to the big NFL fan, Roberts pointed to the television and mentioned her fandom.

“I’m very upset about the 49ers right now, George Kittle tore his Achilles, it’s very upsetting,” Roberts told Snoop Dogg. The news also seemed to stun Lopez, who then asked about Kittle’s injury. Roberts said, “That’s what my husband said,” as the quartet all turned to look at the television. (Unfortunately for Roberts and the 49ers, that is exactly what happened.)

The 49ers were losing at the time Snoop Dogg crashed the interview, but he soon departed and Roberts stuck around. In a separate clip posted by the show, Lopez points out that the 49ers were about to score a touchdown, leading Roberts to lock in on the game finally and see it was in the fourth quarter — and create NSFW content.

“Oh s—t, we really gotta, we’ve gotta get it together,” Roberts said. “We can get it together, we’re going to get it together right now.”

The 49ers did exactly as she asked, scoring on that drive and getting a defensive stop to cap off an improbable win. And luckily for Roberts, the next game against the Seahawks is on Saturday at 5 p.m., with no awards show to interrupt her fandom.
