SAN ANTONIO – A man is facing serious drug charges after deputies found a large amount of methamphetamine and dozens of weapons following a chase and crash on the city’s West Side.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began on December 12, 2025, when deputies were carrying out a drug-related search warrant near Cagnon Road and Hwy 90.

During the investigation, deputies tried to stop a truck driven by Mikal Mireles. Mireles did not stop and instead led deputies on a chase that ended at the intersection of State Highway 151 and Hunt Lane, where he crashed into another vehicle. After the crash, Mireles ran from the truck but was quickly caught and taken into custody.

About eight ounces of methamphetamine were found inside the truck. A search of Mireles’ home later that day led to the discovery of another 32 ounces of meth, bringing the total to about 40 ounces.

17 firearms were also found in his home, including four that were reported stolen. Authorities said some of the weapons were untraceable “ghost guns,” along with illegal gun modifications, a rifle suppressor, digital scales, and drug packaging materials.

Mireles was booked into the Bexar County Jail on charges of evading arrest with a vehicle and manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance weighing more than 200 grams. More gun-related charges are expected.
