DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A 71-year-old man was sentenced to probation Tuesday for soliciting sex with a minor in exchange for drugs.
Michael Codispoti, 71, pleaded guilty in early December after his crime was caught on camera.
He also cannot contact the victim.
Codispoti’s plea and probation were for one count of attempting to corrupt another with drugs.
The probationary term will not exceed five years.
As part of the plea, a Felony Importuning and several other charges against Codispoti were dismissed prior to the sentencing. It was his first offense.
“I’ll just say I’m very remorseful for what I did,” he told the court.
Codispoti was caught on camera in October offering drugs and sex to a 14-year-old girl while in the driveway of a gas station at the intersection of East Third and South Philadelphia streets.
The girl was on her way home from a Family Dollar store less than 100 yards from her home.
It appears once Codispoti noticed her recording, he tries to block his face and eventually speeds out of the driveway onto Third Street. After declining the man’s solicitation and catching his face and license plate on camera, the girl stops the recording.
He was arrested at his home in Sugarcreek Township after the teen involved reported the interaction.
