Friends Andrea and Jessy were biking along a mountain in Mexico, the ground muddy from rain, when an entire litter of puppies appeared out of nowhere. The babies ran right up to the pair of friends, who were completely shocked. This hadn’t been part of their plans for the day — and it changed everything.
“There were six puppies, and we didn’t see any dog mom or any other dog,” Andrea said in a video for The Dodo.

A huge storm was on the way, and the friends knew that if they left the puppies there alone, they wouldn’t make it. The roads were covered with deep puddles, so the only option was to tuck the puppies into their shirts and ride down the mountain. Luckily, it wasn’t that difficult, as the puppies were clearly ready to be rescued.
“They just stayed still all the way,” Andrea said.

The friends biked 12 miles with the puppies and took them to another friend’s house, the closest place they could think of. Then Andrea biked to her car and drove back to bring the puppies home.
“My life completely changed,” Andrea said.
After getting them all checked over at the vet, Andrea fostered all six puppies herself. She named the puppies Rita, Roma, Roberta, Ramona, Rigo and Rogelio — and ended up adopting four of them.
Andrea is now building a farm specifically designed with her rescue pups in mind. That day on the mountain was supposed to be a picturesque bike ride. Instead, it altered the course of her entire life, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I still think that day has been one of the best days of my life,” Andrea wrote on TikTok.
