Strictly Come Dancing fans have seemingly issued the same verdict following Ellie Goldstein and Vito Coppola’s exit from the show.

The pair were among the 10 remaining couples in the BBC One dance show who were seen taking to the ballroom floor on Saturday night (November 1) as week six of the competition took place.

Ellie and Vito performed the tango to Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra in a magic-themed performance, which saw the model and actress pulling her dance partner, dressed as a bunny, out of a hat.

They were seen scoring a total of 27 points out of a possible 40 points from the judges, which left them at the dangerous end of the leaderboard.

It was then, during Sunday’s (November 2) results show, that Ellie and Vito found themselves in the bottom two for the first time, going up against EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and professional dancer Julian Caillon.

Performing their Halloween week routines again, Ellie and Vito tangoed, while Balvinder and Julian danced a rumba to Stay by Shakespears Sister.

The judges unanimously decided to save Balvinder and Julian, who scored 28 points for their routine on Saturday, which was “full of character”, according to Craig Revel Horwood.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas – who this week was the judge with the casting vote – said that she would have chosen to save Balvinder and Julian should she have been required to vote.

But she added that she thought “Ellie was also outstanding throughout the whole competition,” as Balvinder and Julian therefore secured their place in next week’s show.

Following confirmation of their exit, following their first dance-off, Vito told Ellie: “Honestly, there are no words I can use to describe how proud I am of you, and you did really change my life so much.

“You made me such a better person. At the beginning of this year, I said to myself ‘Please, please, please can you send me a beautiful angel into my life?’ And now you (have) arrived.”

He emotionally added: “I’ve never had a little sister but I always wanted one. Now, I have you and you’re my little sister forever, and your big brother is always by your side.”

Asked about dancing with Vito, 23-year-old Ellie said: “I’ve enjoyed it so much! He is a kind person and all I wanted from day one. You have been so heartwarming, thank you to you (Vito),” before Vito, 33, vowed to keep dancing with Ellie.

Meanwhile, Strictly fans were quick to agree that they thought, and hoped, Ellie and Vito would make it further in the competition.

@Steph832 said: “Gutted about this one. Really thought Ellie would make it to Blackpool at least. Also gutted for Vito, it’s the first time since joining the show 4 years ago that he won’t reach the final. That’s such a crazy stat.” @liamandrews123 wrote: “I’m so sad, ellie should’ve stayed.”

@LoreliePlum shared: “Bah. A bit gutted, hoped she’d stay a week or 2 more. I thought she did exceptionally well, great musicality but her technique isn’t improving i guess. Week 6 is pretty good going though.” @louise_sasha20 commented: “Oh wow! Definitely didn’t expect them to leave just yet!”

Fans were also keen to show their support. @ryleesdove typed: “Ellie should be extremely proud of all she did this season. i will miss her and Vito.”
