DIXON, Mo. (WKRC) – A former Missouri substitute teacher has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges involving sexual contact with underage students.

Carissa Smith, 30, a former substitute at Dixon Middle School, was accused of giving students cash, alcohol and marijuana in exchange for sex or to allow her to perform oral sex. Court records show she faced multiple felony counts, including statutory rape and sex trafficking.

A probable cause affidavit stated Smith sent nude photos to a victim on Snapchat and engaged in sexual activity with several students, sometimes at her home or in her car. The affidavit also said she attempted to intimidate the victims to keep them from reporting her.

Smith’s sentence includes six years for endangering the welfare of a child and two years for each sexual contact charge.
