According to CBC, officers found Paco with gunshot wounds. Paramedics were unable to save his life and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Two suspects fled before police arrived, but one person has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Detective Sergeant Phil Campbell stated that they believe there was “planning and deliberation” involved in the shooting.
He added, “I can appreciate that any shooting in any neighbourhood is a concern. I can assure you that we are dedicating any necessary resources to conduct a thorough investigation. We are asking anyone who may have seen something to say something.”
Original reports said multiple shots were fired and that Paco had been chased around, according to the Toronto Sun. A woman claimed that Paco had been shooting a new music video with friends around the building, including the back path and walkways.
On the Facebook group, Impact ’n Communities, a tribute read, “Mother sad day for the South side this young man was part of IMPACT ’n Youth Drop-in and out other various programs before making it into music.”
The message continued, “He was well liked and was trying to get his music career on track. No matter the hurdles. Paco always came up on top. You will be missed young legend R.I.P. PACCO.”
YTN Paco released his only album, Only Way Is Up, in September 2022. His biggest songs on Spotify, ‘All I Need Is Money‘ and ‘No Manners’, each have over 350,000 streams.
