A New Bern man is being held with no bond after authorities say a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of drugs. A background check also found that the man was wanted by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for immigration violations.

Jesus Facundo Sayas Rodriguez, 46, of Washington Post Road, was pulled over by Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes on US 70 Highway near the NC 43 Highway bypass. Officials say that a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

The background check found that Rodriguez was previously a deported aggravated felon, according to officials.

Rodriguez is currently being held in the Craven County Confinement Facility under no bond.
